STAT-VIEW HIV/HIV is a single-use, in vitro, self-test for the detection of HIV-HIV-2 antibodies in finger-prick whole blood for non-professional users. SENSITIVITY: The sensitivity of this self-test is 100% with a confidence interval within. All HIV-positive persons participating in this study have been correctly detected. No observations are observed. SPECIFICITY: The specificity of this self-test was assessed as 98% with a confidence interval between 98.5% and 100%. A 0.2% of seronegative individuals have been detected, i.e. 0.2% of the results are false positives. RELIABILITY: STAT-VIEW HIV has been proven effective in 4,943 people who did not know whether they were HIV-positive or not. The STAT-VIEW HIV test made it possible for them to test themselves. Researchers have compared the STAT-VIEW HIV results with the patient's status as confirmed by reference laboratory methods. The laboratory methods showed that a total of 296 people were HIV-positive and 4,480 were HIV-negative. Comparison of the results with the STAT-VIEW HIV results obtained by self-testing was as follows: 100% (4,480/4,480) of people correctly reported a negative test result. STAT-VIEW HIV and the reference methods gave the same result. This means that there were no false positives among HIV-negative persons.
STAT-VIEW HIV consists of a test strip placed inside a plastic tube. The test is performed by mixing a drop of blood with a liquid solution contained in the buffer. During the test reaction, you can see the mixture migrate along the strip. When the test is finished, two lines may appear on the paper strip. The upper line (CONTROL line) is only visible if the test is performed correctly. The lower line (TEST line) appears if it is detected.
To perform the STAT-VIEW HIV/ HIV test, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water and dry them completely. Open the package and place all components on a clean surface. Prick a fingertip with the included lancet and collect a drop of blood with the pipette or device provided. Place the drop of blood on the indicated area of the test strip inside the tube and add the buffer solution according to the instructions. Wait 15 minutes without moving the device. After this time, check the result: if only the CONTROL line appears, the test is valid and negative; if the CONTROL line and the TEST line appear, the result is positive; if the CONTROL line does not appear, the test is invalid and must be repeated. Dispose of used materials safely and, in case of a positive result, consult a health care professional to confirm the diagnosis by laboratory testing.
